RIM today unveiled the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 smartphone, the first BlackBerry phone to come in the flip form factor. The quad-band EDGE based BlackBerry Pearl Flip smartphone features a chrome-finished frame surrounding its smooth, luminescent face. The 8220 weighs 3.6 ounces and measures approximately 3.9x1.9x0.7inches. Features of the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 include light-sensing color display with QVGA resolution, an external secondary LCD screen, Speaker Independent Voice Recognition (SIVR) for Voice Activated Dialing (VAD), Bluetooth 2.0, SureType QWERTY keyboard, 2MP camera and Wifi.
